I wish I had read this book before I started presenting! It gives the how and why on every aspect of presenting, from slide design (with templates included on CD-ROM) to image capture and manipulation, down to presentation techniques and how to prepare yourself to present at your best. The CD-ROM also includes tutorials to make sure that even the novice has understood. Excellent!

Since we completed writing the book a new version of Photoshop Elements has appeared. This has many new enhancements, but the tutorials in the book all work fine in version 3.0.

If you need general PowerPoint help, I am sorry we cannot provide this. We are two busy professionals. However, there is a great bunch of guys supporting the PowerPoint Newsgroups who will usually help.

Before you go there, please remember:

"The help you receive in internet newsgroups is not really free, though it is willingly and happily provided at a very low and reasonable cost. The price of admission is respect and professionalism and is due and must be paid in full with each post and reply. That's what makes it such a great place for learning and for sharing what we have learned."

You can find the Newsgroups FAQs here and you can find out all about the Newsgroups here.

After (and only after) you have read the rules, you can access the PowerPoint Newsgroup. If you prefer to use a newsreader such as Outlook Express and are not sure how to do this, look here.

Perfect Medical Presentations has won the British Medical Association's annual book prize in the Basis of Medicine category - one of the largest categories.

This year saw 619 entries to the competition, an increase of 20% over last year.

Highly commended by the judges, the chairman of the BMA Board of Science Prof Sir David Carter introduced the book as "the one that I want to take home".

The referees' report described the book thus.

This book summarises everything an enthusiastic presenter needs to know about taking, altering and presenting medical images for print, PowerPoint and the web.

The tutorial based approach allows the reader to learn by doing, and it's well written in a conversational style.

The award was presented to Terry Irwin by Professor Dame Barbara Clayton, Honorary Research Professor in Metabolism at the University of Southampton.
