Free graphics We have included lots of images on the CD accompanying the book. Many of these came from our friend John Carr, photographer at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. To give you a flavour of the image quality, we have additional images that you can download from this page. To download an image, right-click on it with your mouse and save the target as a file on your computer. These are royalty free images and you may use them as you wish. You must not use them for commercial purposes, or pass them on to another person. The first batch are provided courtesy of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The Royal College has an excellent collection of images in the ImageBank. For further information contact John Carr. Royal College samples: We are also pleased to let you have free use of the cartoons from the book. These are huge, high resolution files, so the originals are suited only to use on a poster. Use the smaller images for PowerPoint, but be sure to resize them appropriately. If you have the book, you will know how to do this! This little fella is a .png file. First click on him and he will open in another page, with a funny blue background. Now right-click on him and save the file as doc.png and use him in PowerPoint. Don't dave this image, it is vey small - it is called a thumbnail. Why a .png file and not a .jpg or .gif.....buy the book. If you need convincing use one of each file type in a coloured PowerPoint slide. This may be useful in all sorts of situations! In this case click to open the large version of the image, then right-click and save to your drive. Please tell us where you used these images on the boards! Now, if all of that stuff was new to you....well, you need the book! We have two chapters devoted to images on and images for the web. There is also one that explains file types. |
